Ye olde Captain still a goodie
Father's day 2021 and the first hint of spring saw some friends suggest meeting up at the Captain Stirling Hotel. And the very kid-friendly 'Cap S' proved a charming way to spend the afternoon.
Festivities included a guitar duo, who played some good old familiar tunes; the collection of which had a hint of the 'Dad' about them. Nice touch. The musicians were set up in the courtyard, which is actually a really lovely, relaxing space with well-established greenery and plenty of seating.
Some giant games such as connect 4 and jenga were set up to play, which kept the kids busy for ages, and the dads managed to enjoy a few beers.
The building itself is something of an icon and a quick google (thanks perthartdeco.net.au) led to the discovery that it dates back to 1935. It was designed by a bloke called Marshall Clifton in the Spanish/Mediterranean style. No wonder it evokes such a laid-back vibe. For old-school pub relaxation, the Cap S is the go.
